179km Schiller crater found on Lunar Astronautical Chart 125. Quoting John Moore in Craters of the Near Side Moon, “Schiller has to take the biscuit for being the weirdest-looking crater on the Nearside.”
Looking down the length of Schiller.
The view from the north.
The “central” peaks.
Phocylides K, KA, and KB. 14.57, 12 and 14.54km respectively. The crater at the upper left is unnamed.
Thanks, Howard, for the mention…you’re taking the biscuit, too :)))))
You’ve inspired me to make an animation about Schiller, which really should have been done long ago, as it is wonderful-looking feature.
I’m currently just downloading the SLDEM right now, so, hopefully, all goes well. I’ll give you a heads-up of when the animation is done, which as you know can take up to a week or two…depending on what to include in it etc.
Cheers
John
PS. Have checked out all your most recent uploads BTW, simply excellent as usual, and there seems to be an endless opportunity of views as to how such craters and features all can be represented.
