Vallis Alpes   Leave a comment

Two passes over Vallis Alpes using 2D image data and 3D topographic data gathered by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and made available by the LRO Science Team.  You’d need a Buck Rodgers style spaceship for the fast pass:  it is much faster than escape velocity ( 2.38 km/s ).  Orbital speed is 1.023 km per second which makes an orbit two minutes short of  three hours when skimming the surface.
